Privacy notice

How London Picks processes personal data under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018: what, why, lawful bases, cookies, recipients and your rights.

Who we are

London Picks (londonpicks.uk) is a guide to London businesses. We decide how the personal data described here is used and we process it under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Data protection questions go to info@londonpicks.uk.

What we process

Server logs (IP address, browser and the page requested); emails exchanged with us; and, where you run a business account, your sign-in address, the edits you make to a listing and Stripe’s billing records for Pro and Top. Listings also contain business details already in the public domain.

Why, and our lawful basis

Logs are processed in our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working. Emails are handled in our legitimate interest in replying to you. Business accounts and paid plans are processed to perform our contract with you, and billing records are kept to meet our legal obligations.

Cookies and analytics

London Picks carries no advertising, does not use AdSense and sets no tracking or advertising cookies. We measure visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. The ‘For businesses’ area sets one strictly necessary session cookie so that you stay logged in, which is why there is no cookie banner. Cloudflare Turnstile protects our forms from spam using technical information about your browser.

Who receives data

Cloudflare hosts and secures the site, counts visits and delivers our email; Stripe takes payments, so your card number never reaches us; OpenFreeMap serves the map tiles your browser fetches. Some of this happens outside the UK, chiefly in the United States, under safeguards UK law recognises, such as the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

Server logs: briefly. Emails: while they serve a purpose. Business accounts: until closed. Billing records: six years, for tax.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing and, where it applies, to data portability. Email info@londonpicks.uk and we will respond within one month.

Complaints

If something about our handling of your data bothers you, tell us first. You can also take a complaint to the ICO, the UK’s data protection regulator.

Changes

This notice is revised when our processing or the law changes, and this page always shows the wording that applies.
